Question 5: Which bowl game will BYU football get into?

Every single year since becoming independent, BYU has had a contract with a bowl game under the condition that BYU is bowl eligible. This has led to some really good games such as the Las Vegas Bowl against Utah in 2015. It has also led to some really questionable bowls such as in 2011 when 10-2 BYU played 8-4 Tulsa.

This year however, there is no contract. This can be a very good thing for the Cougars or a very bad thing. Yes, there is a chance that BYU can play in a New Year’s Six Bowl this year. For the sake of this article however, we will just say it doesn’t happen.

With no contract there is a chance that BYU comes in at 8-5 and gets to play a SEC 7-5 school. Or perhaps BYU will go 10-3 and get to play a 11-1 group of five school like Houston or Western Michigan. However, there is also a chance that BYU goes 10-3 and ends up playing a 6-6 WAC or MAC school. The is also a chance that BYU could go 11-2 and end up going against a 7-5 MWC team. BYU  football basically gets to go wherever the bowl committee wants them and there is not much that BYU can do about it.
