There’s plenty of talent on BYU football’s roster in 2017. But the real question is which Cougars are the most valuable?

We’re about a week and a half away from the start of BYU football’s 2017 season. When the Cougars take the field of LaVell Edwards Stadium against Portland State on August 26, fans can finally stop speculating.

We’ll finally get some answers. Although, there will still be plenty of questions heading into a huge game with LSU.

But with all the talent – and all the questions – one thing is certain. Some players will separate themselves from the rest of the pack in Provo.

Much like Butch Pau’u last year. A relative unknown to begin the season, Pau’u became the heart of the Cougar defense. When he missed time, BYU football looked like a different team.

Surely there will be players like that this season.

But of course, that’s only one part of the MVP formula. With that being said, here are the top candidates to be BYU football’s offensive and defensive MVPs in 2017.
