BYU football: The good, the meh and the ugly
By Shaun Gordon
The Verdict
The Cougars really could go 12-1.
They could just as easily go 6-7.
Neither of those outcomes are likely. Both are possible, but neither are likely.
The balls don’t bounce the right way all the time. They’d have to bounce pretty much perfectly for a 12-win season.
On the flip side, Murphy’s Law shouldn’t kick the Cougars hard enough to lead to their first regular-season losing record in more than a decade.
The 9-4 scenario is much more likely.
The front half of the schedule is loaded, and BYU football isn’t likely to emerge from their first seven games at 6-1. Starting 5-2 would be an excellent start to the season. 4-3 wouldn’t be half bad either.
Here’s my real prediction for this season:
2017 Regular Season Record: 10-3
Bowl Game Invite: Frisco Bowl
Final Ranking: No. 21
But only time will tell which way the footballs bounce for BYU this season.
