Dream Case Scenario:

A New Year’s Six Bowl

This year, the Fiesta, Cotton, and Peach bowls have essentially five at-large spots available. That could jump to six, if the Group of 5 representative plays in the Orange Bowl.

This is an uncommonly high number of openings. The rotating semifinal schedule changes on a yearly basis, and this many won’t be vacant for another three years. If BYU football is to ever crack one of these bowls, they need to take advantage of this rare opportunity.

A 12-1 regular season will assuredly land them in one of these. I personally believe, 11-2 would get them in as well, if they were to beat either LSU or Wisconsin.

Anything beyond is a little hard to imagine. If these venues aren’t satisfactory to you, just read this article to see how they could break into the College Football Playoff.

I personally like the approach Tom Holmoe has taken here. From the look of things, the future definitely has some potential.  Stay tuned to see how it turns out.
