Who leads BYU in receiving against Portland State?

Nate: It’s tough to tell just how much the Cougars will be throwing against the Vikings, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they only run 30 or so passing plays. Some of those will come with Beau Hoge under center.

I’ll continue to stick with Trinnaman here. We haven’t heard much about him throughout camp, so some BYU football fans have soured on him. I don’t necessarily think Trinnaman is bad, I think that the guys behind him got a lot better, therefore they stole the limelight.

I think Trinnaman finishes with six catches for 90 yards and a touchdown.

Josh: The Cougars lost four receivers this offseason and those returning accounted for less than half of the team’s receptions, yards and touchdowns.

My first thought would be to give it to a tight end – Ty Detmer has made it no secret that tight end position will be heavily utilized in the offense this year. But with that comes the rotation between Matt Bushman, Moroni Laulu-Pututau and Tanner Balderree, which, in my opinion, will lead to more offense production but lower individual numbers.

I’ll give this one to Trinnaman as well; I feel his speed combined with Mangum’s arm will be a major threat when Portland State tries to adjust and cover a confusing tight end rotation from BYU football.
