BYU football season kicked off on Saturday.  Finally we don’t have have to predict what will happen, but we can look back at what actually happened.

After almost eight full months of speculating and guessing what would happen, we can finally talk about what actually did happen for BYU football.

Many fans are very concerned about the Cougars after their 20-6 win over FCS school Portland State. Although some areas were not as good as we hoped, the Cougars did very well in others.

Here is a complete breakdown of how every position performed in the first game of the season.

Overall Grade: B-

I really believe that BYU football did not open up their playbook against Portland State.

I thought that the BYU coaching staff didn’t want to give away too much for LSU to scout. The Cougars did enough to feel in control the whole game without running up the score.

That being said, there are some major areas for concern. The Cougars gave up multiple third and fourth down conversions during the game defensively. Rhett Almond has a stronger leg, but his accuracy is still a concern. Finally, the offensive line did not hold up as good as everyone predicted they would.
