Number 10: BYU Autumn Classic – Cross Country Sept. 16

Why it’s ranked as high as it is: BYU cross country is good. Before you write against these rankings understand this: BYU men’s cross country finished ranked No. 7 and the women’s team finished No. 10. Both of these team’s are returning a lot or athletes from last year so watching this should be a lot of fun.

Why it’s not ranked higher: This race is not really a “Big Meet” as far as importance and competition. The problem is, if you watch cross country on TV, you only really can see the first place runner. The fun is watching and cheering all of the runners. So go and support the Cougars in Provo if you are able to make it!

Number 9: BYU vs Wisconsin – Football Sept. 16

Why it is ranked as high as it is: Wisconsin will very likely be ranked in the top 10 when kickoff rolls around. The Badgers are projected to once again play in a BCS bowl game. It is relatively rare that a ranked Power Five school travels to Provo, so watching to game is a must.

Why it is not ranked higher: Four reasons. The first is that BYU has three other opponents that are more important on this list. The second reason is that recruiting will not really be affected whether or not the Cougars win. The third is that by this time, the Cougars will probably not be undefeated anymore. Finally, I project this to be the least likely game for the Cougars to win. This will be the third straight game versus a ranked opponent. The last time this happened, the Cougars lost to Michigan 31-0.
