BYU Cougars: Top 15 fall sports games
By Adam Gibby
Number 8: BYU at Santa Clara – Women’s Soccer Nov. 4
Why it is ranked as high as it is: This game will be the season finale for the BYU women’s soccer team. In women’s soccer there are not a lot of teams that are able to make the postseason outside of being a Power Five school. Last season, Santa Clara advanced all the way to the elite eight in the NCAA Tournament. It is a real possibility that the BYU and Santa Clara may be playing for a WCC championship as well as a high seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Why it is not ranked higher: There is also a possibility that by this point in the season, this game will not end up being as big as just mentioned. With it being the last game, it is very possible that one of the two teams will already have the WCC championship won.
Number 7: BYU at Utah – Women’s Volleyball Sept. 14
Why it is ranked as high as it is: Last season BYU women’s volleyball only had three losses. One was to No. 6 San Diego, one was in the NCAA semifinals vs No. 4 Texas and one was to unranked Utah. The loss to Utah was what kept the Cougars from receiving a higher seed in the NCAA tournament and the Cougars are not about to forget about that.
Why it is not ranked higher: There are so many good games this season in BYU sports and there is no way of making this game higher than any other game. This is also not a conference game. If it where it would be higher than the other volleyball game that shows up on this list.
