BYU football: Five questions about the LSU game
By Joshua Ellis
What does BYU football need to do to make you satisfied?
Josh: At a minimum, be competitive.
A national audience that’s heard extra about this game (with it being moved last minute) needs to be impressed. If the masses change over to ESPN during Alabama-Florida State’s halftime and it’s a blowout, that will leave a mark.
I also want to see a positive turnover margin. If LSU leaves the Superdome with a win because BYU gifted the Tigers a huge chunk of their points, I’ll be frustrated.
Mangum will have to be sharp, but if he can avoid cheap interceptions and the defense can pick off or strip a ball away from LSU, it could be a key difference in a Cougar win.
Nate: Keep things close, don’t get blown out or embarrassed. That’s really all I’d like to see.
My hope is that BYU holds LSU to 24 points or less, which would be enough to turn heads. If you don’t knock off LSU, you can still get people talking by giving them a scare.
In addition, I’d also like to see BYU play a clean game. Gunslinger Mangum gives us great moments… but he’s liable to give us some bad ones too. He’ll need to play clean for BYU to have a shot.
