Former BYU football quarterback Taysom Hill was cut by the Packers, but it didn’t take him long to find a new home.

Taysom Hill looked really good in the NFL preseason. Probably as good as he had since his 2015 game against Nebraska when he was still playing for BYU football.

He looked decisive, he put points on the board and his athleticism was showing in full force.

The Green Bay Packers were hoping to bring him back to their practice squad, so they cut him. It was a move that surprised many who cover the team – and it proved to be a move that cost the Packers.

As of Sunday morning, Taysom Hill is the newest member of the New Orleans Saints.

The Saints cut two quarterbacks off their roster on Saturday, Garrett Grayson (Colorado State) and Ryan Nassib (Syracuse). New Orleans already had two quarterbacks on the roster before claiming Hill – one being Drew Brees and the other Chase Daniel.

Obviously, everyone knows the future Hall of Fame quarterback Brees, but Daniel is certainly lesser known. Daniel played at Missouri and signed with the Washington Redskins in 2009. He bounced around the Saints, Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles before coming back to New Orleans.

In his career, Daniel is 51-of-78 passing for 480 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

Daniel has a huge edge in experience, having played in the NFL for nearly a decade. But Hill certainly has an upside with his athleticism. It will be interesting to see if the former Cougar pushes Daniel for backup reps.

Granted, with Brees at the helm, there’s little reason to think that Daniel or Hill will see much (if any) game action in 2017.
