No. 5: 1942 – BYU 12, Utah 7

It was 20 years of futility for BYU football heading into 1942. In the their first 20 matchups against Utah, the best they’d been able to manage was three ties.

With WWII going, both teams were missing players and coaches. Floyd Millet, BYU’s basketball head coach, took over as head coach for the football team too.

Because of the war, BYU would cancel their next three seasons, but the Cougars took care of business before the hiatus, taking down the Utes 12-7 for their first Holy War victory.
