The BYU defense is special

It’s such a shame. All BYU has to do is be average offensively. Just merely okay. If that happened, the Cougars would be a really tough team to beat.

Simply because the BYU football defense is so talented.

The Cougars played well against Utah, especially considering the Utes used a ton of run-pass options, which are tough plays to defend. They may have given up yardage, but they didn’t give up many points.

When BYU football needed big plays, the defense answered the call. Including on a Warner Brothers tag-team forced fumble and fumble recovery in the fourth quarter. Fred forced the turnover, while Troy recovered.

All in all, more often than not, the Cougars held Utah to field goals, and kept the team in the game. Khyiris Tonga played exceptionally well in the middle of the defense line.

BYU held Utah to just 3-of-14 on third downs.

By all means, the Cougars are more than enough reason to stay glued to the television. They play so well defensively that they give you hope.

But then we get to the other side of the ball.
