BYU football fell for the third-straight week on Saturday. Here’s what we learned from the 40-6 blowout loss to the No. 10 Wisconsin Badgers.

BYU football’s front-loaded 2017 schedule was intriguing. It provided opportunities for the Cougars to make a splash in front of a national audience.

Now, after the first four games have come and gone, there wasn’t much of a splash. Really, it was more of a light ripple.

After four games and just four total touchdowns, it seems liked BYU football isn’t the New Year’s Six dark horse we thought they would be.

But while this stretch has been a disappointing one for the Cougars, it did help remind fans that the coaching staff has a lot to rebuild and re-tool – and that they’re well on their way to doing it.

In any event, here’s what we learned from the loss to the Badgers.

Bonus Thing We Learned: Beau Hoge was really thrown to the wolves on Saturday. He certainly made some bone-headed mistakes, but I think overall he didn’t look too bad. Hoge threw two bad interceptions, and was caught in the end zone on a ridiculous play. But, no one expected perfection from a guy who hadn’t thrown a pass in a game since 2015. I thought his arm looked lively and ultimately I think his mobility will give BYU some interesting read-option wrinkles in the playbook.
