Ula Tolutau is the guy from here on out

We could sit here and harp on how putrid the BYU offense is, but there’s no sense at this point. We’ve been saying the same things for the last two weeks, and with Beau Hoge at the helm it’s not like anyone expected BYU to light the world on fire.

But there were a couple positives.

The first was Ula Tolutau.

The big fella took five carries for 25 yards and a touchdown against Utah last week. This week, he was the team’s leading rusher, taking 13 carries for 58 yards (4.5 yards per carry).

He hit holes hard, showed shiftiness for being a 250-pounder and was explosive. It’s clear that he’s the best running back on the roster. As the Badgers started blowing the doors off it was tough to continue running the football, but moving forward he’s going to be atop the depth chart.

From here on out, the schedule gets much lighter than what the last three weeks have been. You can never overlook a college team, but it certainly seems like there will be more consistent opportunities to run the ball in the future.

Tolutau will be rumbling, stumbling, bumbling and breaking tackles for a long time in Provo. The Cougars got a good one.
