BYU football: ESPN will highlight Ziggy Ansah during Monday Night Football
Former BYU football star Ziggy Ansah will be featured during ESPN’s telecast of Monday Night Football (Detroit Lions vs New York Giants) tonight.
Ziggy Ansah left BYU football in 2013, after the Detroit Lions selected him with the 5th overall pick of the NFL Draft.
From that point on, when he’s been healthy, he’s been terrorizing NFL quarterbacks.
Tonight, when Ansah’s Lions take on the New York Giants, fans around the world will get to learn a little bit more about the Ghana-born defensive end.
During Monday Night Countdown, which airs just before kickoff, ESPN’s Michelle Beisner-Buck’s interview with Ansah be aired.
The interview will be centered around Ansah’s efforts in Ghana. Every offseason he returns home, and ESPN went with him in July when he hosted a football camp and provided shoes and cleats for those attending.
This came just a few months after he started The Ezekiel Ansah Foundation, which partnered with the hospital where his mother worked for more than 30 years.
Ansah’s efforts are commendable, and it’s cool to see ESPN recognize what he’s doing.
On the field, he’s listed as questionable for tonight’s tilt with the G-Men.
In his career, Ansah has 164 total tackles, nine forced fumbles and 32 sacks. He was a Pro Bowler in 2015 after posting 14.5 sacks.
In the promo video ESPN released for the segment, Ansah talks about his goals. To me, it shows his incredible character and outlook on life. Here’s one tid-bit, transcribed by The Detroit News.
“One thing I always tell myself is that I can’t save the whole world. But if I’m able to change the life of one kid – just one – I will be happy.”
For BYU football fans interested in watching the segment, it will air between 4-6 pm during Monday Night Countdown.
