BYU football: Three things to know for the Utah State Aggies
BYU football bounces back from a bye week to take on the Utah State Aggies this week. Here’s what you need to know for the rivalry game in Logan.
BYU football (1-3) travels north on Friday to take on Utah State (2-2) with the Old Wagon Wheel up for grabs.
There are plenty of Cougar fans who have soured on the 2017 season (for good reason), but this matchup with the Aggies has pretty big implications.
If BYU football falls in Logan, the Cougars are likely looking at a 1-6 start to the season, with the only victory coming over an FCS team.
Obviously, that would make this year a complete dumpster fire. So, the Cougars will need to figure it out and put together a complete game this week.
Here are three things to know for the matchup.
No 1: Utah State is coming off a huge win
The Aggies were firing on all cylinders last week, destroying San Jose State 61-10. Quarterback Kent Myers threw two touchdown passes and added 84 yards rushing. Utah State averaged 5.6 yards per carry – and 13 different Aggies caught a pass.
Utah State had the ball for nearly 40 minutes, the defense held San Jose State to 2-14 on third down.
And they did it on the road.
If you’re a believer in momentum, then Utah State has a ton of it. Coming off a huge road win, they return home for a rivalry game with a staggering Cougar squad.
Obviously, BYU football is much more talented team than San Jose State, but it’s not like the Cougars have done enough to make you feel overly confident.
