Yoeli Childs, Sophomore

2016-17 statistics: 33 games played (26 starts), 25.9 MPG,  9.3 PPG, 8.2 RPG

BYU basketball seemingly has a lot of role players in the frontcourt. The star of the group is unquestionably Yoeli Childs.

He was excellent as a true freshman last season, proving to be an explosive player with a knack for defending the basket.

Now, in year two, he’ll be a player the Cougars lean on consistently. I don’t think it’s a stretch to see his numbers take a leap across the board.  Childs scored double-digit points in seven of his final 11 games – and he did it as the third or fourth option on the court.

With Mika gone, I think Dave Rose my try a lineup with Childs as the only big on the floor, letting him patrol the paint (46 blocks last season) and roam freely.

Expect big things from the 6-foot-6 big man from Bingham High School.
