Previewing the 2017-18 BYU basketball backcourt
Evan Troy, Sophomore
2016-17 statistics: Practice squad
Troy was moved up from BYU basketball’s practice squad. It’s unlikely he sees any time this season, unless it’s in garbage time towards the end of the year, or perhaps during exhibitions.
Troy played at Mark Morris High School (WA) and averaged 11.3 points and 7.8 rebounds per game as as senior there.
McKay Cannon, Junior
2016-17 statistics (Weber State): 32 games played (7 starts), 2.6 PPG, 1.2 RPG, 1.5 APG
Cannon joins BYU basketball as a walk on from Weber State. He’s played in 66 games in his career – which is nice experience to have coming off the bench – but I don’t see much of a role for Cannon this season.
Frankly, there’s too many guys ahead of him, and I don’t think he’ll be pushing them for playing time.
But in any event, given some of the injury history on the roster, Cannon might get some looks.
