BYU football has announced a second series with East Carolina. The two schools have scheduled a home-and-home series for 2022 and 2024.

BYU football will fly across the country to take on the East Carolina Pirates on Saturday.

But that won’t be the last time the two schools clash.

On Thursday, the two schools announced an additional home-and-home series to take place in 2022 and 2024.

The Pirates will travel to Provo on Oct. 15, 2022 and the Cougars will head to Greenville on Oct. 19, 2024.

“We have enjoyed the opportunity to play teams from the American Athletic Conference, including the current series with East Carolina,” BYU AD Tom Holmoe said in a press release. “ECU is a great matchup and it was an easy decision to schedule another series with them.”

The first meeting between BYU football and East Carolina came in 2015, where Tanner Mangum led a comeback resulting in a 45-38 victory. It was also Beau Hoge’s first in-game appearance for the Cougars (even though it’s likely one he’d prefer to forget). The next game comes on Saturday, in a matchup of lowly 1-6 teams.

ECU’s lone win came over UConn, in a 41-38 shootout.

ESPN’s matchup predictor currently gives BYU football a 71 percent chance of defeating the Pirates, which would give the Cougars their first win over a Division-I opponent this season.

ECU is allowing 50 points per game and 600 total yards per game. So, it certainly appears that BYU will get back on track offensively.

The game will air on CBS Sports Network at 5PM MT this Saturday. BYU is currently a 5.5 point favorite in the matchup.
