Poor Payton Dastrup

If I had to select one player that hurt his stock during this low-key scrimmage, it was probably Dastrup.

Silly fouls and sillier shots marred his night.

He shot two 3-pointers, neither of which were even remotely close to going in. And he added a couple of deep mid-range jumpers, which were not pretty either.

Dastrup was severely outplayed by Luke Worthington, and it certainly looks like he’s lost some minutes to the returning junior.

Obviously it’s early, and there’s more than enough time to turn things around, but it wasn’t how he wanted to start his season. But, to Dastrup’s credit, he looked like he was in great shape. You could tell slimming down made him faster and smoother.

Now he just needs to play smarter and get out of his own head.
