BYU football is coming off a win for the first time in nearly two full months. Now the Cougars will take on Mountain West foe Fresno State on the road.

BYU football is trying to build some momentum after a decent win over San Jose State. There were a lot of positives to take from that win, but it’s hard to get too excited when Utah State defeated the Spartans 61-10.

Still, a win is a win, and at this point no one is complaining when the Cougars pick one up.

Can BYU football get a small wining streak going this weekend? Well, the Cougars will need to knock off a surprisingly solid Fresno State team to do it.

Here’s what to know for the game.

The Bulldogs didn’t dominate SJSU, either

Well, I don’t know if the transitive property truly applies to college football. But, if it does, then things may favor the Cougars this weekend.

Fresno State played San Jose State back on October 7, and the Bulldogs picked up a 27-10 victory.

The Bulldogs never trailed in the game, but were outplayed in the second half. It’s also worth noting that the Spartans were playing Josh Love at quarterback (before Montel Aaron took over the starting job).

Fresno State took a 21-0 lead into halftime and the team never trailed in the game. But still, it’s not like the Bulldogs thrashed the lowly Spartans.

So, perhaps there will be something in the film from that matchup that the Cougars can use defensively to stymie the Fresno State offense.
