BYU basketball begins its regular season on Saturday. With the football team being so bad, the vibes around the Cougar Cagers have been poor. But Cougar fans, it’s time.

People seem to be down on BYU basketball this season. Maybe that’s because St. Mary’s and Gonzaga are so good, or maybe that’s because BYU football has been so bad people are afraid to have expectations.

But, you know what? It’s time to get hyped. BYU basketball’s season begins on November 11 against the Delta Devils of MVSU. Sure, the Cougars aren’t West Coast Conference favorites, but there’s no reason to not be excited.

Let’s run it down.

No. 1: Seriously, there’s no way it’ll be worse than football

We all know how painful it is watching BYU football this season. And there’s literally no way (barring injury… knock on wood) that BYU hoops will be worse.

What are the odds that the basketball team has the same kind of injury luck that the football team has?

Because that’s the only way things would get that bad on the hardwood. Basically, Dave Rose will have to lose three or four starters. Anything outside of that, and the Cougar Cagers will at least be competent.

Obviously, this first point is a bit in jest. But on a more serious note, getting some victories on the hardwood will certainly help Cougar Nation forget about the lackluster football season.
