No. 4: BYU basketball is young and fun

BYU basketball features nine underclassmen players and six juniors. No seniors are on the roster – and if you look at talent, the best players are all sophomores.

Nick Emery, Elijah Bryant, Kajon Brown and Luke Worthington are the juniors who will see consistent play. The rest of the rotation will be comprised of underclassmen.

That’s exciting stuff for BYU basketball fans.

As it currently stands, it doesn’t look like any player will pull a Mika and leave early – although it’s impossible to see the future. But assuming everyone stays, next season might finally be the year BYU basketball topples the Zags and Gaels.

In theory the entire core will return.

But that doesn’t mean this season won’t be fun, either. Yoeli Childs will dunk over anyone, TJ Haws will okey-doke defenders with his handles and Zac Seljaas might shoot 45 percent from 3-point range. The Cougars are actually starting to play a little defense, too. There’s a lot to like, even if it doesn’t always translate to wins.
