BYU women’s volleyball will begin their tournament run on Friday as they host American University.

The bracket is set.

Despite being in the Top-10 the entire season, No. 7 BYU women’s volleyball (28-2) received the 13th overall seed for a third straight year.

The Cougars will start their NCAA Tournament run on Friday against American University. The Cougars will host the first two rounds of the tournament, also welcoming the No. 24 Oregon Ducks and Kennesaw State Owls to Provo.

The Oregon/Kennesaw St. match will start at 4pm MT on Friday, followed by the Cougars and the Eagles at 7pm MT.

American (26-7) qualified for the tournament by winning the Patriot League. They went 15-1 in conference play, and will enter Friday on an 18-game winning streak.

If the Cougars ground the Eagles, they’ll either face the Ducks (17-11, 8th in PAC-12) or Owls (21-4, A-Sun Champions).  That match starts at 7pm MT on Saturday.

BYU is looking to reach their sixth straight Sweet Sixteen.

If they do, the Cougars will likely have to travel for the Regional Semifinals and Finals.

The most likely destination would be Kentucky. The No. 6 Wildcats earned the 4th overall seed in the tournament after a 26-3 season and an SEC championship.

A run to the Final Four in Kansas City could set up a rematch with No. 1 Penn State. The Nittany Lions (29-1) earned the top overall seed. They’re also the team that topped the Cougars in the 2014 title game.

The Cougar spikers won’t be looking that far ahead though. They’ll have to take this tournament one game at a time if they want to make a deep run.
