One of BYU football’s greats, running back Jamaal Williams, churned out a career-night in Green Bay’s loss to Pittsburgh on Sunday Night Football.

BYU football’s all-time leading rusher had himself a night in prime time on Sunday. While his Green Bay Packers lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-28, no one can blame the J-Swag Daddy.

Williams once again dominated the touches in the Packers’ backfield, taking 21 carries (no other rusher had more than one attempt) for 66 yards and a score. He added four receptions four 69 yards and a touchdown.

It was his first game with a receiving touchdown and his first multiple touchdown game. Not too shabby for a Sunday Night Football performance.

Surely the Packers would like to see his 3.2 yards per carry average improve, but Williams is doing the same thing in Wisconsin that he was doing in Provo – running hard.

Williams is adept at falling forward, gaining the extra foot or two. Up until tonight, he hasn’t really run away from anybody.

Then he took a screen pass for a 54 yard score, showing explosiveness.

Catching the football wasn’t something Williams was asked to do much of as a Cougar. However, he’s shown that he’s more than capable of being a receiving option in the pros. In each of his two starts he’s hauled in four passes.

As far as his involvement is concerned, it looks like it’ll be full steam ahead. Aaron Jones is still out with a MCL injury, and Ty Montgomery might not be back for another week or two with broken ribs. But with Montgomery, it’s all about pain tolerance.

Williams second touchdown of the night came on the ground, from four yards out.

It’s always nice to see former BYU football players making plays, and Williams will look to continue his impact against a porous Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense next week.
