BYU women’s volleyball: Cougars’ Sweet 16 streak puts them in elite company

Texas is about to play in their 12th consecutive Sweet Sixteen. It’s their second streak of six or more straight appearances, the other coming from 1982-1993.
The Longhorns are also one of the most storied programs in women’s volleyball history, having advanced to the Final Four 12 times, winning the NCAA title twice.
Their current run has included eight Final Four runs, and the 2012 NCAA title.
The Cougars and Longhorns met in the Final Four in 2014, with BYU taking that victory. Texas got their revenge last year with a 3-2 win in the Sweet Sixteen.
Both teams would have to reach the championship game to face each other in this year’s tournament.
