Khyiris Tonga Made A Huge Impact

Khyiris Tonga was a less-hyped addition to the roster on Signing Day. In late August he was named eligible by the NCAA after flipping from Utah to BYU football following his LDS mission. No one knew just how much he’d play this season.

Turns out, quite a bit.

Tonga turned heads at 6-foot-4, 340 lbs. and carries his weight extremely well. He was quick on his feet, routinely garnered double teams and was the lone defensive lineman that wasn’t utterly destroyed against Utah, Wisconsin and LSU.

The only ‘knock’ on Tonga was his stamina. But considering he was just four months removed from his mission when the season began, no one can be mad about Tonga’s snaps.

With a complete offseason under his belt, he may truly be a game-changer for BYU football in 2018.
