No. 3: Baseball wins WCC, ends NCAA Tournament drought
2002.
That’s the last time BYU baseball made the NCAA Tournament. Until 2017.
The Cougars’ bats caught fire at just the right time, going 23-7 to end the regular season.
That same heat carried into the WCC tournament, as they outscored their opponents 41-17 to win the conference.
Most importantly, the WCC title gave the Cougars an auto-bid to the NCAA Tournament, BYU’s first in 15 years.
The Cougars went 2-1 in their region, ending their season with a 9-1 loss to No. 8 Stanford.
