Two former BYU football players – Micah Hannemann and Tuni Kanuch will be playing some ball this weekend, taking part in the Spiral Tropical Bowl.

Micah Hannemann and Tuni Kanuch are two BYU football players with dreams of playing pro football on Sundays.

The first step towards that dream is playing football this Sunday, in the Spiral Tropical Bowl FBS All-America Game.

This is the third annual Spiral Tropical Bowl, which will take place in Daytona, Florida, Sunday morning. Scouts from both the NFL and CFL will be in attendance. Over the last two seasons, more than 100 players have gone from the Spiral Tropical Bowl to the NFL.

Kanuch was a tenacious run-blocking guard for the Cougars. He has great size (6-foot-3, 320 lbs.) and plays with a mean streak that you want to see from your offensive linemen. During his tenure with BYU football he played in 50 games. While at Bingham High School (UT) in 2009 he was named Mr. Football by the Deseret News.

Hannemann was a play-making safety for BYU football from 2012, 2015-17. During that time he amassed 123 total tackles, one sack and four interceptions. He played in 44 games with the Cougars and had 14 career pass break ups.

Both Kanuch and Hannemann will play on the National Team in the game, and will be coached by Mike Stock. Stock has more than 40 years of football coaching experience, amassing 26 years at the college level and 17 years in the NFL. Perhaps he’s most famously known for his tenure at Eastern Michigan, which saw the school lose 27-straight games.
