BYU football’s Taysom Hill made the play of his life against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night. Unfortunately for Hill, the Saints lost the game.

Taysom Hill had dozens of jaw-dropping plays from his time with BYU football. Hurdles, stiff arms, electric runs…

And now he has one more to add to his highlight reel.

Hill, who has developed himself into a special teams standout for New Orleans, helped block a punt in the fourth quarter.

At the time, it continued swinging momentum in the Saints’ favor. The play was made at the 5:25 mark, while New Orleans trailed Minnesota 20-14.

The Saints would take a 24-23 lead into the final 30 seconds of play – and it seemed like BYU football would have players vying for the both the AFC and NFC Championships. But it didn’t work out that way.

In a desperation heave with 10 seconds remaining, Minnesota quarterback Case Keenum found Stefon Diggs for a 61-yard touchdown. The play was insane and will live in Vikings’ lore for the rest of time.

So, unfortunately, Hill’s play was all for naught as the Vikings walked off with a 29-24 victory. Jokingly, I had tweeted the win was good, old fashioned Holy War material, because Saints safety Marcus Williams whiffed on the game-saving tackle.

Now, Kyle Van Noy is the lone Cougar remaining in the NFL playoffs. He and the New England Patriots will host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line.

Hill is under contract with the Saints through next season, so unless he’s cut – which is extremely unlikely – he’ll be back in New Orleans next year. We’ll continue to keep tabs on him throughout the offseason.
