BYU football’s Jonah Trinnaman will be playing in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl on Saturday, January 20. Here are all the details regarding the game.
Jonah Trinnaman’s BYU football career left a lot to be desired. Granted, extremely poor quarterback play didn’t help matters. But it never felt like the speedy four-star JUCO recruit ever really hit his stride with the Cougars.
Still, he showed flashes – usually thanks to his elite-level speed. And after spending the last week with the rest of the participants, Trinnaman will be taking part in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl on Saturday, January 20.
So what is the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, exactly? Here’s a write up from the game’s official website.
“The NFLPA Collegiate Bowl is the premier postseason all-star game for any draft-eligible college football players. More than just a game, this week-long experience provides players with the change to showcase their game to NFL scouts and coaches, while learning from the best in the business.”
One of the goals is to not just help players adjust to the speed of the NFL game, but to prepare them for the lifestyle changes that come with being a professional football player.
Trinnaman is one of 112 players participating in the game. He will be on the American team and will be coached by Darrell Green. Green, who spent nearly 20 years with the Washington Redskins playing corner back, is a Pro and College Football Hall of Famer and two-time Super Bowl Champion.
The speedy wide receiver will get reps both on offense and special teams as a kick returner. With any luck, he’ll catch a block and turn on the burners. He may have chances as a special teamer in NFL training camps.
For BYU football fans that are interested in watching Trinnaman, the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl will be aired on FS1 at 2pm MT on Saturday.
