BYU football: Advantages that the Cougars have in recruiting
By Adam Gibby
Worldwide fans
If you go to BYU you will have fans everywhere! I remember when I was 13-years-old I went to the BYU vs Tulsa game in Tulsa, Oklahoma. There was a pretty even split between BYU football fans and Tulsa fans at that game. Since then, I’ve had the chance to go to games at Arrowhead Stadium in Missouri and Oxford, Mississippi.
It never fails. No matter where the Cougars go, the fans will be there.
I think we have all been in that moment when we walk into an unfamiliar environment and feel very uncomfortable. Then we see that one person who we have seen before and suddenly feel a lot more secure and at peace.
This is how I imagine BYU football players feel when they walk into a SEC stadium and hear 85,000+ fans yelling and doing chants. But there is always a big section of blue. I have never heard a BYU victory that did not end with audible BYU chants. And that is something you can not get at any other school, besides perhaps Notre Dame.
Again, it isn’t like this is the end all be all, but imagine you’re a potential recruit. Would you want a nationwide (or even worldwide) following, or would you want a local following?
