BYU football and North Carolina State have scheduled games for the 2024 and 2030 seasons. It will be a first-time meeting for the two universities.

BYU football announced on Monday that it has scheduled a home-and-home series with the North Carolina State Wolfpack.

The first game of the series will take place in Raleigh, North Carolina on November 9, 2024. This will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools. A return game will be played in Provo on August 29, 2030.

In a BYU football press release, Athletic Director Tom Holmoe spoke highly of NC State.

“The game in Raleigh provides a unique late-season travel opportunity for our football program,” Holmoe said. “And it’s great to bring another ACC opponent to Provo.”

Although these games are way too far away to try to predict, it is good news to see the Cougars get another P5 opponent into LaVell Edwards Stadium. BYU football is 5-9 against ACC opponents all-time, but have one two of the last three.

While it would be nice to see NC State come to Provo later in the season, it’s nice to see the Cougars get a quality late-season opponent in 2024. Holmoe has done a really nice job of scheduling top-flight teams since leaving the Mountain West (maybe too good, depending on how you think about it).

But if there’s a knock, it’s that BYU football’s November schedules are usually terrible and filled with bottom-feeder teams.

Of course, at the same time, there’s hope BYU football will be in a P5 conference by the time these games are played. If the Cougars are, then competitive schedules won’t be an issue. However, BYU is far from a lock to gain an invite.

For now, the Cougars are focused on Signing Day 2018, which is February 7. We’ll keep you up to date on all things BYU recruiting until then.
