Why 2018 can’t be worse for Football and Basketball

Yes football may not be a guarantee to be much better next year. There is hope with Jeff Grimes taking control and Coach Kalani Sitake appearing to be much less “loose” this offseason, but without a clear frontrunner for the starting quarterback and the departure of Fred Warner, there are still a lot of doubts.

But it can not be worse because even if there is a terrible season next year, fans won’t be as shocked. 2017 took fans by complete surprise. Nobody was expecting anything less than seven wins for the Cougars. To get the same disappointment and shock, the Cougars would have to win less than two or three games.

The men’s basketball team has zero seniors on the current roster. Yes, there may be a player or two who transfer but the chances seem slim of that. There also will not be any players who declare early for the NBA draft or leave for missions. This means that the team should return most if not all of the team from this year which will lead to more success next season.
