Army

Over the course of BYU’s football history, they’ve played more than 80 of the current FBS schools.

Army isn’t one of them.

The Black Knights have never been to Provo, nor have the Cougars had the honor to play in West Point.

This makes even less sense since 2011, since Army is one of the few teams that remain independent just like BYU.

But whatever the reasons may be, the fact that these two teams have never squared off is just a shame. Even if the Cougars agreed to only one game at Army, it would be worth it. BYU fans would love the opportunity to visit West Point, whether they live nearby or travel quite a distance.

Army has one of the most storied football histories, even though recently they’ve struggled on the field. They only have three winning seasons in the past twenty-one years.

Two of those, however, have come in the past two years. Head Coach Jeff Monken seems to be turning the Black Knights around. In 2017, Army won the Commander-In-Chief’s Trophy for the first time since 1996 and made their second consecutive bowl game. Their 42-35 win against San Diego State in the Armed Forces Bowl gave the Black Knights at 10-3 finish.

Army may finally be back on the rise, and there’s no better time for BYU to get a scheduling deal done with them.
