The Long Shots

Tomasi Laulile

A strong pro-day may have saved Laulile’s career. The Cougar lineman missed all of 2017, but he was able to show off his athleticism at BYU’s Pro-Day, including a 4.77 time in the 40-yard dash. That’s a startling number for a 300+ pound defensive lineman.

That athleticism has drawn interest from multiple teams, and he’s met with at least four of them:

Chances are high that he won’t hear his name called in the draft, but chances are also high that he’ll find a home as an undrafted free agent.

Tuni Kanuch

When he was on the field, Kanuch was a very good interior lineman. Unfortunately, he spent a lot of time off the field with injuries. Now his task is to convince NFL teams to take a chance that he’ll be able to stay healthy.

The former Cougar has met with multiple teams, and one mock draft has him being selected. Pro Football Focus predicts he’ll go to Indianapolis in the final round.

Much like Laulile, there’s a much higher chance that he’ll catch on with a team after the draft rather than hear his name called this weekend.

Micah Hanneman

Of all the players on this list, the former Cougar safety is least likely to garner a pick in the draft. One team has shown at least a little interest in Hanneman, though:

That interest will likely manifest itself in an invite to training camp, not in a draft pic. But you never know.

Stranger things have happened.
