BYU Women’s Soccer: Cougars face tough schedule as they try to rebound

Games of Note in 2018
at Cal State Fullerton
As a young team in 2017, the Titans finished 12-6-4, winning the Big West Tournament before a first round NCAA Tournament loss to Pepperdine. With nearly everyone back, this team should be even better in 2018.

Another pretty young team in 2017, the Huskers finished 9-5-5, but will likely be better in 2018. As the middle game in a three-game road stretch, this could be the epitome of a trap game.
at Texas A&M
The Aggies went 18-2-2 last year, and watched their season end on penalty kicks in an NCAA Tournament second-round loss to Notre Dame. They project to be just as good in 2018.
Stanford
The defending champions. The home opener. The Cardinal bring nearly everyone back for 2018. This is easily the biggest game of the year for BYU.
at Utah
The Utes suffered through a miserable 2017 season, but played BYU to a 1-1 tie at South Field. They’re rebuilding too, but this is a road rivalry game, so anything can happen.
at Marquette
The Golden Eagles just missed out on an NCAA Tournament invite, finishing 13-7-1 in 2017. This road test can’t be overlooked right after the rivalry matchup with Utah.
Utah Valley
The Wolverines finished 10-12-1 last season, but earned an NCAA Tournament berth after winning the WAC Tournament. This is one of those games that the Cougars have to win if they want to finish above .500.
at Pepperdine
The defending WCC champs took down BYU 2-1 at South Field, finishing 15-3-3 and winning their NCAA Tournament first round matchup against Cal State Fullerton.
Santa Clara
Another revenge opportunity for the Cougars. The Broncos took down BYU 4-3 last year, finishing 15-7-1 and earning an NCAA Tournament berth.
That’s half of BYU’s schedule. The Cougars will have to win a few of those marquee matchups if they’re going to get back above .500.
They’ll need more than a few if they want to get back to the NCAA Tournament and retake the WCC Championship.
