Elijah Bryant is on the Philadelphia 76ers’ 17-man minicamp roster. Now the former BYU Basketball star can earn his chance to play in the NBA Summer League.

Elijah Bryant has a shot to play in the NBA Summer League.

On Sunday, the Philadelphia 76ers announced their 17-man minicamp roster, and Bryant made that list.

Only 14 players will make the final summer league roster for the 76ers, so he still has some work to do to be able to showcase himself for all of the NBA teams in Las Vegas.

For Bryant, this will be the first step in his goal to play in the NBA. If he makes the summer league roster and excels, there’s a chance that he could earn an NBA contract, such as a two-way deal.

More likely, he’d impress a team enough to earn a G-Leauge contract and follow the path that Kyle Collinsworth took.

Collinsworth impressed in the summer league for the Dallas Mavericks, signing with the Texas Legends, their G-League team. After a year of standout play with the Legends, he signed a two-way deal with the Mavericks in 2017, and eventually earned a full-time spot in Dallas later in the season.

For Bryant, he’ll want to show that he’s the same type of player as Collinsworth – a well-rounded player that can play both ends of the floor.

He did that for BYU, averaging 18.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.3 steals last season. While he’s not quite the triple-double threat the Collinsworth is, he makes up for it with a much better shooting touch.

The announcement doesn’t come as much of a surprise for anyone who follows Bryant on social media. Late last week, he posted the news unofficially:

Now it’s official, and now he can get to work earning that summer league roster spot.
