In his first extended playing time of the NBA Summer League, Former BYU star Elijah Bryant put together a strong stat line as he tries to make an NBA roster.

Elijah Bryant finally got more that a few minutes in an NBA Summer League game, and he made the most of it.

In the Philadelphia 76ers’ 91-89 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday, Bryant scored 8 points on 4 for 7 shooting in 15 minutes of play. He also added two steals on the defensive end.

With the win, the 76ers are still alive in the summer league tournament, meaning that Bryant will have at least one more opportunity to showcase himself in Las Vegas.

Before Saturday’s game, Bryant had only played in two out of Philadelphia’s four games, and in both he only played the last three minutes of the 4th quarter.

In his first game, against the Los Angeles Lakers, he didn’t have a scoring opportunity, but he grabbed two rebounds and had a steal.

His second opportunity to play came against the Washington Wizards. In his three minutes, he scored three points on 1 for 2 shooting.

For Bryant, this summer league is huge for his NBA goal. A strong showing could lead to an NBA contract, or at least an offer to play on a G-League team.

If so, he could follow in the footsteps of another former Cougar, Kyle Collinsworth. Collinsworth started off with the G-League’s Texas Legends after playing for Dallas’ summer league team. He performed well enough for the Legends to earn a two-way contract with the Mavericks, followed by a full NBA contract.

If Bryant doesn’t catch on in the NBA or the G-League, he’ll look to continue his professional career overseas.

Bryant and the 76ers will take on the Memphis Grizzlies in the summer league quarterfinals on Sunday at 8:00pm MT. Fans can catch the game on ESPN2.
