According to Missouri’s media guide, the Tigers have moved the date of their 2020 game against BYU Football up a month, nearly completing the Cougars’ schedule.

The 2020 BYU Football schedule is nearly finalized, thanks to some date swapping with Missouri.

According to Missouri’s media guide, the Cougars and Tigers will move their matchup from November 7, 2020 to October 10, 2020.

The game will still take place at LaVell Edwards Stadium, in a return game from their 2015 matchup at Arrowhead Stadium. In that one, the Tigers edged the Cougars 20-16 on the Kansas City Chiefs’ home turf.

The change helps the Cougars, since they’d also set a date with Boise State on November 7th. Now BYU can host the Tigers in early October, then travel to Idaho to take on the Broncos in early November.

With the change, the 2020 schedule is nearly set, barring any more changes. The Cougars currently have eleven games scheduled, five at home and six on the road.

In all likelihood, that final home slot will be filled by an FCS team. But even if that last team isn’t a marquee matchup, that season’s schedule is still loaded.

Right now, the schedule is:

  • Sep. 5 – at Utah
  • Sep. 12 – Michigan State
  • Sep. 19 – at Arizona State
  • Sep. 26 – at Minnesota
  • Oct. 2 – Utah State
  • Oct. 10 – Missouri
  • Oct. 17 – Houston
  • Oct. 24 – at Northern Illinois
  • Nov. 7 – at Boise State
  • Nov. 14 – San Diego State
  • Nov. 28 – at Stanford

On paper, the 2020 schedule may be the toughest top to bottom that BYU has ever played. They’ll take on six Power Five teams and four of the top Group of Five programs in the country.

Fortunately for both the team and the fans, the Cougars have a solid home schedule. BYU will host Michigan State, Utah State, Missouri, Houston, and San Diego State.

That will follow a strong 2019 home schedule that includes Utah, USC, Washington, Boise State, Liberty, and Idaho State.

Their road schedule will still be tough, with three of their first four games coming away from home against Utah, Arizona State, and Minnesota. Plus, they’ll finish the season at Stanford.

It’s safe to say that BYU is finally putting together the type of schedules they envisioned when going independent.

Whether they can compete in these schedules remains to be seen.
