The betting odds are out, and you can bet on college football quarterback competitions. For BYU Football, the odds-on favorite is a surprise.

When it comes to sports, you can bet on just about anything. Will a football coin flip will be heads or tails. How long will it take a performer to sing the national anthem.

You name it, you can probably find a way to bet on it.

With that in mind, online betting site BetDSI released their betting odds for the Top 20 quarterback battles heading into 2018.

Think Tua Tagovailoa will be the starting quarterback in Week 1 for Alabama? BetDSI agrees, putting his line at -230. Bet against him with Jalen Hurts for +165 odds.

And then there’s the BYU quarterback situation. BetDSI has put odds on the four contenders to start the season at Arizona.

Will it be Tanner Mangum, the veteran coming back from injury?

Will it be Beau Hoge, the veteran coming back from injury?

Maybe it will be Zach Wilson, the freshman phenom?

It won’t be any of those, at least according to the odds.

BetDSI has Joe Critchlow as the favorite to start Week 1 for the Cougars. The sophomore-to-be who began the 2017 at fourth on the depth chart but finished the season as the starter has the best odds to keep that starting spot.

He’s slightly favored above Mangum and Hoge, who are tied for second, with Wilson coming in last.

The odds look like this:

  • Joe Critchlow = +210
  • Tanner Mangum = +270
  • Beau Hoge = +270
  • Zach Wilson = +360

BYU isn’t the only team entering fall camp with at least four possible candidates. In fact, eight teams made BetDSI’s Top 20 with odds for at least four quarterbacks.

The Cougars’ race is by far the closest of any of them, though, if you look top-to-bottom. Critchlow and Wilson are separated by 150 points. The next closest is at LSU, where their four candidates are separated by 380 points.

Fortunately for Cougar fans, fall camp begins on August 2nd, and the race should start to find separation.

But for now, if you’ve got some spare money you can take your prediction to the bank.
