Team Fredette won their second game in two days to advance to the Super 16 of The Basketeball Tournament.

Two wins are in the books.

Four more wins stand between Team Fredette and the $2 million prize for winning The Basketball Tournament.

No. 2 seed Team Fredette held off the No. 10 seed Jackson TN Underdawgs 99-89 in the tournament’s second round.

While the margin of victory was similar to Team Fredette’s first round win over the No. 15 Peoria All Stars, the game was markedly different from the second quarter on.

In the first quarter, the Underdawgs held a slight edge throughout, ending the period with a 24-21 lead. But unlike their game on Saturday, Team Fredette took the lead early in the second quarter and held onto it from there on.

After trailing 51-44 at halftime, the Underdawgs were able to cut the lead as low as four before a huge play turned the tide of the game.

Team Fredette’s Jeff Ledbetter hit a three-pointer and was fouled on the shot by Torye Pelham, who got hit with a technical foul for his reaction. Jimmer Fredette hit the two technical free throws, and Ledbetter hit his foul shot to cap off a six-point play and put Team Fredette back up by double-digits.

Jimmer’s team took an 80-68 lead into the final period, and held a 92-83 lead with just under four minutes to play when the Elam Ending took effect. The target score to end the game became 99, and Team Fredette hit that winning mark with two free throws by Ra’Shad James.

Overall, it was a much more balanced offensive game by Team Fredette.

Jimmer led all scorers with 30 points, but struggled from distance. He shot 9 for 22 from the field, but hit all 11 of his free throws and added 6 rebounds and 5 assists. He also received a technical foul for the second straight game after reacting to a no-call.

Brandon Davies finished with 13 points, 3 blocks, and 2 steals, but played limited minutes due to foul trouble.

James finished with 17 points off the bench. Jordon Crawford had 12 points and 8 assists, and Charles Abouo added 4 points, 3 rebounds, and an assist.
