By Shaun Gordon
The Meh
BYU can’t stop the Khalil Tate show in Arizona, and although the Cougar offense shows improvement, it’s not enough as the Wildcats win by 10.
Home field advantage works wonders for the Cougars against Cal, as the offense moves the ball efficiently for the first time in ages and BYU picks up their first win of the season
The Cougars look completely outmatched against Wisconsin, as they run away with the matchup in Madison, but BYU evens their record with an easy win against McNeese State.
Unlike the Wisconsin game, BYU hangs with Washington, but the Huskies show why they’re a Top 10 team as they pull away in the second half.
The in-state clash with Utah State is a close one, but BYU is buoyed by the home crowd and gets a late stop to seal the win.
Hawaii comes out firing in Provo, but their offense doesn’t quite keep pace with the Cougars.
The biggest shock of the season comes against Northern Illinois. BYU overlooks the Huskies and come out flat, ultimately losing by nine points.
The Cougars suffer their first two-game losing streak of 2018 when they get beaten fairly soundly at Boise State, but they snap that streak with a solid cross-country performance against UMass.
Bowl eligibility comes on Senior Day, as BYU plays their most complete game of the season against New Mexico State.
Unfortunately, the losing streak continues in the Holy War, as the Utes hold on to win when the referees wave off a last-second Cougar touchdown on an “Intent to Deceive” penalty.
