Six former BYU Football standouts saw action in NFL Week 5, while two other former Cougars are still recovering from injury.

Well, that was a quick trip for Bronson Kaufusi.

After the New York Jets signed the former BYU Football star to the active roster on Monday, they waived him on Friday. He’ll likely end up back on the Jets’ practice squad.

On the bright side, Taysom Hill is finally in the scoring column, and several former Cougars saw action in NFL Week  5.

Taysom Hill (New Orleans Saints)

Hill scored his first NFL touchdown on Monday night, a one-yard run into the endzone in the 4th quarter. It was one of five carries he got in the Saints’ 43-19 win. He finished with 23 rushing yards and 43 return yards on two kickoff returns.

Fred Warner (San Francisco 49ers)

Warner’s double-digit tackle streak came to an end in the 49ers’ 28-18 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. He finished with a relatively quiet 3 solo tackles.

Kyle Van Noy (New England Patriots)

Van Noy had one of his better statistical games in the Patriots’ Thursday night win over the Miami Dolphins. He finished with eight tackles, six of them solo.

Jamaal Williams (Green Bay Packers)

While Williams is seeing fewer touches as other Packer runners return to the backfield, he put in one of his most efficient games in Green Bay’s 31-23 loss to the Detroit Lions. Jamaal rushed six times for 33 yards and added two catches for 19 yards.

Michael Davis (Los Angeles Chargers)

Michael Davis got himself in the box score for a second straight week, recording a tackle in the Chargers’ 26-10 win over the Oakland Raiders.

John Denney (Miami Dolphins)

Denney continues to add to the NFL’s longest consecutive games played streak as he took the field in his continued role as the team’s primary long snapper.

Ezekiel Ansah (Detroit Lions)

Ziggy missed an opportunity to line up against former teammate Jamaal Williams as he sat out a fourth straight game due to a shoulder injury suffered in the opening game. He seems to be close to a return, but that’s been the case each week since the injury.

Daniel Sorensen (Kansas City Chiefs)

There’s still no updated timetable on Sorensen’s return to the Chiefs. The safety is still recovering from a knee injury suffered in the preseason.
