BYU Football: There’s still plenty to play for in 2018

Bowl Eligibility
The likelihood of reaching six wins and qualifying for a bowl is actually quite high. Simply beat the teams you should from this point forward, and you’re in. Even with today’s dismal mood, a slight change in production easily changes the tide.

The Cougars sat at home for “the most wonderful time of the year” in 2017 while 78 other teams got to play one more game. The thought of missing out on another bowl season again is almost unbearable. On the flip side, missing out last year makes a return to the postseason, that much sweeter.
A National Ranking
If the Cougars can somehow get some momentum back with two more victories in October, they can position themselves to jump back in the Top 25. Though seemingly unlikely, if they run the table a 10-win season would land them there.
But even the Cougars were to suffer another loss, ending the season with a 4 game wining streak and a victory over a highly respected Ute team would probably be enough to get them ranked with a 9-4 record.
As far-fetched as this may sound, we’ve all seen crazier things. Besides, what is worse than not having anything to look forward to?
So, stay calm, be optimistic, and hope for the best. There’s still plenty left to play for this season.
