A head-to-head matchup between two former BYU Football stars highlighted a pretty quiet Week 6 for former Cougars in the NFL.

It was a pretty quiet week for former BYU Football players currently on NFL rosters. That’s what happens when two of them don’t play because of a bye week and one is still rehabbing an injury.

On the flip side, two former Cougars squared off against each other on Monday night. Another one took part in one of the more memorable games of the season so far, and a third got his first snaps on defense this season.

Let’s look at how each former BYU standout fared this week:

Jamaal Williams (Green Bay Packers)

Williams’ Packers outgunned Fred Warner’s 49ers 33-30. JSwag Daddy split the backfield carries with Aaron Jones and Ty Montgomery, rushing six times for 29 yards. He also had a 10-yard reception.

Oh, and he broke a Warner tackle attempt and had a monster stiff-arm on Richard Sherman.

Fred Warner (San Francisco 49ers)

While Williams broke one Warner tackle, the 49ers linebacker also took down his former teammate once. It was one of Warner’s four tackles on the night, with three of them solo.

Kyle Van Noy (New England Patriots)

In one of the most entertaining games of the season so far, Van Noy’s Patriots handed the Kansas City Chiefs their first loss of the season 43-40. Van Noy had a quiet game in the offensive shootout, finishing with three tackles.

Michael Davis (Los Angeles Chargers)

While Davis has seen playing time this season on special teams, Sunday’s win over Cleveland was his first opportunity to get snaps on defense. He finished with four tackles, three of them solo.

John Denney (Miami Dolphins)

Denney keeps plugging along as the long snapper for Miami, extending his NFL-leading streak of consecutive games played as the Dolphins took down the Chicago Bears 31-28.

Taysom Hill (New Orleans Saints)

The Saints had their bye in Week 6, allowing Hill to return to his alma mater to see BYU take down Hawaii:

Ezekiel Ansah (Detroit Lions)

Like Taysom Hill and the Saints, Ansah and the Lions also had a bye in Week 6. Hopefully the extra week will allow his shoulder to heal enough for him to return to action against Miami on Sunday.

Daniel Sorensen (Kansas City Chiefs)

Sorensen continues to rehab the knee injury he suffered in training camp. He’s expected back sometime in the second half of the season, although an exact timetable is still unclear.
