With brand new polls out for each of the fall sports, three Cougar teams held steady in the Top 10, including a No. 1 and No. 2 ranked team.

Three BYU teams remained in the Top 10 nationally after the latest round of rankings were released this week.

Leading the way is BYU Women’s Volleyball, who remains at No. 1 with a perfect 18-0 record. Men’s Cross Country isn’t too far behind, coming in at No. 2 in the nation, and Women’s Cross Country still sits at No. 9 in the newest polls.

For the Cougar spikers, they remain comfortably in the top spot. BYU received 60 out of the 64 first place votes, and they’ll likely keep that top spot as long as they remain unbeaten.

They’ll host two matches this week, with Loyola Marymount on Thursday and a key matchup with Pepperdine on Saturday. The Waves only have one loss in conference so far, so a BYU sweep this week would give them a two match lead in the WCC standings.

Men’s Cross Country is coming off a first place finish at the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals on Saturday. Cougar senior Rory Linkletter took first place individually, and four BYU runners placed seventh or higher.

Women’s Cross Country finished fourth at the Pre-Nationals, led by a fourth-place finish individually by Erika Birk-Jarvis.

Both cross country teams will get a week off to prepare for the WCC Championships on October 27th. BYU will play host to that event at Provo’s East Bay Golf Course, then also host the NCAA Regionals in the same location on November 9th.

It’ll be an entire month at home for the cross country teams, giving them plenty of time to prepare for the NCAA Championships in Madison, Wisconsin on November 17th.
