BYU Football: Recapping former Cougars in NFL Week 8
By Shaun Gordon
Five of the eight former BYU Football stars on NFL rosters saw action in Week 8, combining for a touchdown, two forced fumbles, two sacks, and more.
Another week is in the books in the NFL, and a handful of former BYU Football stars had big games for their respective teams.
While three former Cougars didn’t see action either due to injury or a bye week, five made solid contributions.
Let’s take a look at how each player did in Week 8:
Kyle Van Noy (New England Patriots)
Van Noy was all over the place on Monday night, leading the Patriots with eight tackles (seven solo in their 25-6 win over Buffalo.
He added two sacks, a forced fumble, and a tackle for loss in the epitome of a stat-stuffing performance.
Taysom Hill (New Orleans Saints)
Hill started the game with a bang, connecting on a 44-yard pass early in the first quarter to set up a touchdown. He also caught his first pass of the season for five yards and returned two kicks for 50 yards.
There was only one downside to his all-purpose night. He rushed the ball three times for minus-two yards.
Fred Warner (San Francisco 49ers)
Warner continues to be a tackling machine, racking up 7 tackles, six of them solo, and forced a fumble in San Francisco’s 18-15 loss at Arizona.
He’s tied for seventh in the league in tackles through the midpoint of the season.
Jamaal Williams (Green Bay Packers)
Williams got his first touchdown of the season on a one-yard run in the first quarter. Otherwise he had a quiet night though, finishing with only nine yards on four carries.
John Denney (Miami Dolphins)
Denney continues to handle the long-snapping duties week in and week out for the Dolphins, continuing his consecutive-game streak in their 42-23 loss to Houston.
Michael Davis (Los Angeles Chargers)
San Diego had their bye in Week 8. Davis and the Chargers will travel to Seattle to take on the Seahawks next Sunday.
Ezekiel Ansah (Detroit Lions)
For the seventh straight game Ansah sat out with a shoulder injury. He’s been sidelined since injuring it in the season opener.
Daniel Sorensen (Kansas City Chiefs)
Sorensen practiced for the first time on Wednesday, but was still ineligible to play in the Chiefs’ win over Denver. If he’s ready to go he’ll be able to see his first action next Sunday against Cleveland.
