The Defensive Commits

CJ Alatini – Defensive Line

Alatini committed to BYU way back in March of 2016 and has never wavered. The 3-Star recruit likely won’t sign on Wednesday, though, since he’s trying to work out academic hurdles.

Brooks Maile – Defensive Line

The 3-Star prospect out of Pine View High School (St. George, UT) has been a Cougar commit since June of 2017. He was named Pine View’s Player of the Year as a senior, and he’ll bring both size and speed as a defensive end.

Michael Daley – Linebacker

A 3-Star linebacker out of Lone Peak, Daley committed in July. As a senior he did a little bit of everything, finishing with 77 tackles, 24 sacks, three deflected passes, two forced fumbles, one recovered fumble, and a touchdown.

Tausili Fiatoa – Linebacker

Fiatoa has been a Cougar commit longer than anyone else in the 2019 class. He committed back in February of 2016, but like Alatini he likely won’t sign until February for academic reasons.

Caleb Christensen – Cornerback

Christensen is another recent Cougar commit, announcing last Wednesday. He’s a 3-Star corner from Sky View High School (Smithfield, UT) with lightning speed. He’s got plenty of potential for the coaches to work with.

Eric Ellison – Cornerback

The lone junior college commit of the 2019 class so far, Ellison played one year at Mt. San Jacinto College (San Jacinto, CA), so he’ll have three years of eligibility for the Cougars. He’ll battle for playing time in 2019.

Blake Freeland – Athlete

Freeland may be the most intriguing commit of this class. He’s played primarily quarterback for Herriman High School (Herriman, UT), but a growth spurt shot him to 6’8, 260 pounds, so the possibilities are endless for the 3-Star athlete.
