BYU Athletics: The Top 10 moments of 2018

No. 4 – Women’s Volleyball knocks off No. 1 Stanford
August 31, 2018
BYU Women’s Volleyball entered the 2018 season as the No. 8 team in the nation, and won their first four matches easily.
Their fifth match was a different story, though. The Cougars played host to No. 1 Stanford as part of the BYU Nike Invitational, and the match was exactly what you’d expect between two of the top teams in the sport.
The match went five sets, and Veronica Jones-Perry led the Cougars with 20 kills as BYU took down the top team in the nation in five sets (25-22, 25-20, 21-25, 20-25, 15-11).
No. 3 – Men’s Cross Country Finishes No. 2 at NCAA Championships
November 17, 2018
Men’s Cross Country spent nearly the entire 2017 season as the No. 2 team in the nation, and finished third at the NCAA Championships.
2018 was much the same. The Cougars were clearly the country’s second best team again, winning every regular-season meet and the West Coast Conference Championship.
A second-place run in regionals set up a chance to knock off Northern Arizona for the NCAA title. They weren’t able to pull that off, but Conner Mantz paced the Cougars with a Top 10 individual finish as BYU took second nationally.
